Defining Features of the Statue:  The pose best displays the strength of Lord Hanuman.  Hanumans torso is the crowning achievement of this bronze.  You can see the muscle and power within his pectoral muscles as well as in the bulging stomach muscles.  Both the gada or club and the mountain were cast separately and can be removed form the piece.  A Sri Lankan semi-precious Garnet stone is inlaid within the crown of Hanuman.  Very fitting that the stone is from Sri Lanka!  The bronze has a beautiful copper color.

About the Pose of the Sculpture:  In the Ramayana saga Lakshmana the brother of Rama was shot by a poison tipped arrow.  The only cure for the poison was an herb found in the mountains of Gandhamadana in the north called Sanjivani.  The Hindu god Hanuman flew to the North of India.  When he arrived in the mountains of Gandhamadana he did not know the herb by sight.  Hanuman used his incredible strength to lift the entire mountain above his head and carry the mountain back to Lanka in time to save his friend Lakshmana.  In legend Hanuman again and again shows his courage, loyalty and strength by numerous honorable acts.
