Defining Features of the Statue:  Krishna is cast in the more ornate Halebidu style of south Indian bronze than the earlier Chola style.  You can see the Halebidu style in the beautiful decorations in Krishna's cloths and jewelry.  Attention is given to each and every gem stone!  Krishna's leggings and head dress are both amazing.  Krishna's flute has a beautiful yali head carved onto the end of the instrument.  Krishna is perfectly proportionate and looks like a normal man you would see on the street.  Often times male deities are given womanly attributes like larger hips but Krishna is completely realistic.  The cow also grounds the piece in the mundane world of humanity.  The cow is being lured to Krishna by the sounds of his flute.  The cow was cast separately from the Krishna and slides into the base securely. 

About the Pose of the Sculpture:  The flute is Krishna's favorite instrument. The flute not only soothes the humans listening to it, but even the beasts have been known to slow down, calm and be subdued at the sound of the flute. Metaphorically speaking, Krishna's flute defeats the beasts in us and brings us closer to saintly virtues.  The cow has always been associated with saintly nature, and Krishna's flute calls the cows to Him.

Care:  The piece can be used both indoors and outdoors.  Dust the piece regularly.  If you would like the piece to shine use a cotton cloth with some coconut oil or other natural oil to wipe down the statue.
